Driftwood curls into a cave.

The frame is not a frame here, it is a mass of gnarled driftwood and roots curling right around the scene and opening at the front like a cave mouth. Inside it a young witch sits sideways on a rock ledge in a long pale robe and a soft wide-brimmed hat, hair in loose waves down her back, a bound besom resting against her knee.

Past her the ground drops away into a misty valley with a single branch of ochre autumn leaves reaching in from the right. The whole thing is worked in weathered grey, bone and dull gold, like driftwood left out in the weather for years.

Quieter than most witch imagery, more contemplative than seasonal, so it hangs well over a reading chair or a writing desk and stays up all year. Try it against warm timber or a plain neutral wall.
