A grey wolf takes up most of the disc, head thrown back mid-howl, teeth and tongue visible, the ruff around its neck cut into hundreds of separate strands. Behind it hangs a full moon with every crater picked out, and behind that a stand of firs steps back into the distance. Snow banks up along the bottom edge and a dark rusted rim runs around the outside.
There is almost no color here - slate, ash, a little brown in the rim - which is exactly what makes the light on the moon read so clearly. The stone-carved depth in the fur and the moon's pitted face is printed onto a flat panel, so the surface stays smooth to the touch.
Winter is its season. It suits a cabin wall, a hallway with dark paint, or a covered porch through Yule, and it sits well next to pine and cones without turning into holiday decor. A straightforward gift for someone who works with wolf imagery, or for anyone who reads the January full moon as the Wolf Moon and marks it properly.
