An old man sits back on a rock, one knee up, one hand raised to his beard. That beard runs to his waist in carved white waves. His robes are cream and gold, covered from collar to hem in small applied flowers, and his soft hat flops forward over his brow. His hands and face are the only areas left in plain skin tone.
A large full moon hangs at the upper right, its craters worked in detail, ringed by a drift of grey blossom and gold six-pointed stars. Gold daisies and thin reeds crowd the lower left corner. The ground behind is a dark speckled night, which throws every gold detail forward. A mounting hole is punched through the rim at the top.
