Two witches work over a wide black pot that throws gold light up into both faces. The younger one leans in from the left with a jar in her hands; the other holds a small lit flask above the brew, sleeve falling back. Both wear deep blue robes and tall indigo hats. A stone hearth glows behind them, autumn ivy trails across the top of the circle, and a pale moon sits in the fog. Down in front sit a striped pumpkin, lit tea lights, a corked bottle and a handful of brass cups.
The stonework and the folds in the fabric are printed to look like carved relief, painted onto one flat sheet rather than moulded.
This is a Samhain piece that keeps working through the dark half of the year. Hang it by the stove, in a dining nook, or on a covered porch beside the door. Suits two friends who cook together, or anyone who runs the kitchen as the heart of the house.
