The panel is printed to look as though a hole has been torn through plaster and stone, jagged broken edges all round, the surface curling back along the top. Through the gap stands a castle: steep slate spires, arched windows, a stepped stair climbing to the entrance, walls in cold blue-grey.

The sky behind burns orange, and every window in the building glows amber, so the towers read as black cut-outs against the light. Bats cross in both directions, a dozen of them at different heights, and two bare trees lean in from the sides. Moss and rubble gather at the base. The broken wall, the depth of the towers and the shadows between them are printed onto a flat panel.

This one hangs the wide way, so it fills the space above a doorway, a bed or a fireplace better than a tall sign would. The color scheme is squarely Halloween. Good for someone who decorates the whole month and wants one centerpiece rather than another small hanging on the pile.
