A skeleton takes up the whole disc, shoulders squared, draped in a heavy cloak that falls in deep folds. It wears a floppy pointed hat with a square buckle, grins with a full set of teeth, and holds an old oil lantern high in one bony hand. Two carved pumpkins hang at its other side, one by the handle and one balanced on the fingertips, both cut with square eyes and jagged mouths. A wisp of smoke curls up the right edge. All of it is burnt copper and bronze on a pitted dark ground.

The bronze is ink, not casting: cloak folds, ribs and pumpkin ridges are all shading on a smooth panel. Pre-drilled holes mean it goes up on two nails or a wreath hanger.

One colour, high contrast, readable from the street, which puts it on a front door or a porch post through October. It also sits fine year round on a dark wall. Good for the friend who keeps the skeleton up long after November.
