A grey cat sits dead centre, tail curled around one front paw, orange eyes wide open and fixed straight ahead. The fur is drawn in long combed strokes that follow the chest and legs, the whiskers picked out as fine pale lines. Two ribbed bat wings spread low and wide behind its shoulders, scalloped along the trailing edge.

A thin bronze arch curves over its head, hung from small hooks. The frame is dark carved stone with scrolled corners and a few small bat shapes worked into it, and a bronze pendant swings from the cat's collar. The palette stays in slate grey and dull bronze throughout, with no colour except the eyes. The carved stone look is printed onto a flat panel.

The muted colouring makes it easier to place than most Halloween wall art: a bookshelf edge, a bathroom wall, the corner where the altar sits. It works in October and still looks deliberate in March. A good gift for someone who calls their perfectly ordinary tabby a demon and means it fondly.
