The same subject as the brighter tree, taken darker. The trunk is wrapped in a woven Celtic band in greenish bronze, splitting into roots that spread wide and grip the base of the frame. Small green leaves cluster along thin branches instead of massing into a canopy.

That leaves the slate-dark sky showing through. Two pale boulders sit behind the roots, mottled and lichen-grey, and a thick braided rope border in aged bronze rings the whole disc. The carving, the braid and the shadows under them are all printed flat. The leaves are small enough to count, and the knot worked into the trunk repeats in the border, which ties the two together.

The darker ground makes this easier to hang on a pale wall than the green version. It works above an altar table, in a porch, or over a doorway as a house blessing. A good housewarming pick, and right for anyone who keeps their Celtic pieces in bronze and stone tones rather than bright colour.
