A gold sun face sits dead centre, eyes shut, rays flowing out in long wavy tongues. Two crescent moons face inward on either side, one cool silver and one warm gold, each shown in full profile with a closed eye. They float on a deep indigo field flecked with glitter and eight-point stars. Above and below, a compass rose in a round medallion breaks the frame. The outer band is dense scrollwork of spirals, shells and tiny suns in antiqued gold and silver, wide enough to read as a heavy vintage plate from across the room.
From two paces it reads as a cast bronze charger. Up close the scrollwork sits flush with everything else, all shading and metallic ink on a flat disc with a scratch-resistant finish.
Formal and symmetrical, so it wants a centred spot: over a bed, above an altar table, at the top of a stairwell. A safe housewarming pick when you know the person likes celestial pieces but not Halloween ones.
