A witch is caught mid-stride, seen from the side: a tall crooked hat, hair streaming out behind her in long ropes, a full skirt swinging open, and one bare foot crossing the raised rim of the disc itself. Her besom trails from her free hand toward the right edge.

Behind her a huge moon fills the panel in rust and burnt orange, three bats crossing the upper left. Everything is worked in the same coppery brown, the surface cracked and flaked like old plaster, the outer edge left torn and uneven. The relief and the cracks are printed, so the panel stays smooth. Two mounting holes are punched through, top and bottom, and the disc weighs almost nothing.

It holds up on a covered porch through October, or above the coat hooks by the front door. The rust tones sit well with dried wheat, pumpkins and anything brass, and the torn edge reads as salvage rather than new. Give it to the friend who starts decorating for Samhain in August.
