The cat has an open book beneath him and no interest in it. He sits in profile facing left, a single green eye showing, whiskers thrown out long and pale against the dark. His coat is deep black shot with grey at the ruff and along the back, and he is lit from behind by a soft teal moon in the upper right.

The ground behind him is a green-black panel etched with faint circles, dials and thistle stems, a working diagram half swallowed by shadow. The book at the lower edge lies open, pages pale and curled. A twisted bronze rope frames the disc with an ornament at the top and a fitting at the base. The metal is flat aluminium; the bronze, the etching and the paper are all print.
