Helmet up, spear at rest.

A round coin-style medallion with a Greek key border running the whole rim. On the front, Athena appears from the waist up with her crested helmet pushed back off her face, waves of hair over one shoulder and her spear held upright. Her owl stands at her side with its wings half open, and a small spiral clasp holds her robe at the chest.

Turn it over and the back carries the old Athenian owl, square on to the viewer, an olive sprig at its shoulder and the letters beside its feet, just as the ancient tetradrachms were struck. S925 is stamped above it. The whole surface is antiqued, so the pitted background sits dark behind bright, worn-looking figures.

A good piece for anyone who works with Athena, keeps a Hellenic altar, or simply likes jewellery that looks dug up rather than bought. Solid enough to wear every day under a shirt.
